The objective of this publication is to provide guidance to Member States on environmental protection considerations for new nuclear power programmes. The guidance is also relevant to Member States expanding existing nuclear power programmes. Member States can use this information to ensure that environmental considerations are integrated into the overall decision making process, and that the environmental aspects particular to nuclear power are appropriately addressed during the development of the infrastructure required for a nuclear power programme, and the development and implementation of an NPP project. Guidance and recommendations provided here in relation to identified good practices represent experts’ opinions but are not made on the basis of a consensus of all Member Statesen_US
