Abstract: Bandwidth Management System Bandwidth management is the process of measuring and controlling the communications (traffic, packets) on a network link, to avoid filling the link to capacity or overfilling the link, which would result in network congestion and poor performance of the network. A Computer network is the interconnection of more than one computers or devices for the purpose of information and sharing of resources. The main objective of this seminar is to justify the need for internet bandwidth Management System in the Authority’s Local Area Network (LAN) and the way forward. The seminar talks about how people uses internet mostly on personal issues and not related to work issues; most of the workers uses the internet mostly to download music, video games and movies. Meanwhile web filtering referred to as content-control software designed and optimized for controlling what content is permitted or not. It is used to restrict material delivered over the web. Types and classification of filtering is also discussed by the presenter. Features of websense is as follows: it manages productivity, reduce legal liability and improve bandwidth, to make employee Internet use efficient and effective, advanced control over applications and network protocols, mitigate risk from unauthorized applications and It provides solutions on centralized management architecture. Segmentation Implementation of Websense Enterprise Edition (250 Users License) are recommended. Seminar presented by Engr. Zakariya –(C-ICTE)
