Abstract: WORKPLACE MONITORING IN NUCLEAR MEDICINE FACILITY This presentation explain in details the need for an organize workspace and the monitoring of its activities. According to the Regulatory Provision of Nigerian Radiation Safety in Nuclear Medicine Regulations 2006: Section 31: Registrants and licensees are required to develop programms for monitoring of the workplace to ensure safe practice and operating environment. Workplace monitoring can be described as a common plan of action for determining measures for routine radiation in a particular working environment. It can be used for exposure assessment for multiple individuals having access to the work area. This difference applies to both external and internal monitoring programms. Workplace monitoring is significant so as to ensure safe practice and operating environment through following procedures and roles. Workplace monitoring is basically design for controlling and supervising. How the building structure should look like, the equipment, clearly defining controlled or supervised areas and their various departments and duties in order to mitigate the exposure to radiation within and outside the environment. Its advisable for Facility owner must ensure the adequate design and implementation of workplace monitoring programmes for the safety of personnel, the general public and the environment.
